The forest fair

On September 16th, 17th and 18th, 2005, the forest of Chabrières with Fallow land welcomed the Forest 5th in Limousin, only forest fair of the year.

International fair of the professions by the forest and by the wood, this free demonstration welcomed more than 20 000 visitors with Fallow land.

105 exhibitors made discover to the public:
> Of the modern forest material
> The professions by the forest and by the wood and the various training courses
> The multiple uses of the wood (sawing, paper, lumber, drink energy).
> Various demonstrations:
- Exploitation
- pruning in height
- plantation
- Mechanized and manual cutting down
- skidding by animal drive
- manual worker
- cutting of logs in the chain saw
- ergonomics in the work for the drivers of forest material

The demonstrations were able to be organized thanks to the collaboration of the ALEF.

Friday was dedicated in the day by the school. In partnership with the association " A l'école de la forêt ", 1700 pupils of various schools of the Creuse, the Corrèze and the Haute-Vienne were able to discover the forest through an educational path, supervised by 45 technicians of the sector. They were able to visit the fair and the various stands, and to attend diverse demonstrations of material in forest.

The official inauguration took place in the presence of the Prefect of the Creuse, the Regional President of council, the President of council General of the Creuse and the Mayor of the Municipality of Fallow land.

Saturday was dedicated to the General assembly of the Labor Syndicate of the Owners Foresters Foresters of the Creuse followed by a picking of mushrooms organized by the Mycological Company of Limousin, and finally demonstrations of equipments.

In the afternoon, took place a Round Table of the association PEFC on the forest certification. At the conclusion of this last one, the city of Fallow land received its certificate of certification for its municipal forest.

Sunday was dedicated to the permanent demonstrations and to the exhibition of mushrooms picked in forest of Chabrières.
